Obesity is a bigger problem not only among adults but also children. Our lifestyle does not always allow us to have time and / or energy to fit exercise to our daily routine. Eating habits are in accordance with what is easy and comfortable, not healthy. People are bombarded by a large amount of information about sports and fitness from various sources. Many don’t have time to gather all information to build a solid training routine to improve their fitness. This is a problem because the whole fitness of individuals can affect their health.
So what do I mean by overall fitness? In my opinion, the overall fitness consists of three factors: activity, diet, and motivation. The activity is basically how active you are. Do you exercise regularly, play sports, or participate in a kind of activity that can be set as an exercise? Lift weight, cycling, swimming, running, playing basketball, or taking yoga classes will all fall in activities in the overall fitness. Although, it is not limited to these activities mentioned. The more active you, the better your fitness overall.
The second component is a diet. People tend to sometimes claim ignorance in this aspect. Many people told me, “I just don’t know how to eat healthy.” Healthy eating in most is common sense. I think the average person knows that grilled chicken and vegetables are healthier than eating hamburgers and fries. We sometimes say we don’t know when we really do it. Calorie consumption and portion control also two key elements in an individual diet. Nutritional facts on the items we buy will help with these two elements. Often the portion portion is smaller than most of us may get used to it. The key is not to eliminate everything yourself because then you set yourself for failure. You can eat desserts, fries, and pizza but the key does it in medium number.
The last component of the whole fitness is motivation. This may be the most important component of the three. Why did you ask? Well, thinking, if you are not motivated to exercise and eat correctly, then how will you improve your fitness? The two most difficult aspects for motivation began to begin and remain consistent. Many people will continue to exercise or change their food. The key is to start. You don’t need to do it on the first day of the week or month. You can start now.
The second aspect of motivation remains consistent. Now you have chosen to start exercising and eating properly, it’s time to defend it. Combining healthy eating and exercising becomes your daily routine. Make part of your day just like working or going to school. If you set a routine, you will be more likely to follow it.
All aspects of your overall fitness of course can be broken further. It is important to focus on each and try to increase each. If you can do that, you are on our way to improve your fitness as a whole.
